What is IV Nutrition Therapy? Infusion Therapy? IV Hydration?
Intravenous (IV) hydration provides fluid that the body needs when a patient cannot take enough vitamins or fluid by mouth. The contents of the infusion will vary between patients depending on their specific needs, for example, electrolytes, glucose, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The infusion is given directly into the veins by gravity drip method.
Why IV?
Providing the fluids through intravenous routes may be the most effective way of correcting the essential vitamin and mineral intracellular deficits in certain patients. IV administration provides direct delivery to the bloodstream, bypassing any obstacles in the digestive system that may hinder absorption. This results in 100% bioavailability. Using IV hydration as an alternative to oral treatments is important to the patient population that cannot take medicine through the mouth or has a difficult time absorbing oral medications.
At The Rising Osteopathic Family Medicine & Medical Spa we use an integrative and osteopathic approach to medicine. Administering a different number and type of IV therapies we can treat all of our patients as individuals.
